Just came back from the NUS Geography Challenge and this year's is definitely much more difficult than last year. This year's theme is on cultural heritage so it is a bit foreign to all of us.
The MCQ was killing us in the first part but it was quite okay when it went nearer to the middle and the back where most of the physical geog questions and the general knowledge questions are.
The most pathetic thing was still the fact that I mixed up the Corolis Effect and the Trade Winds (totally CRAP! could have just killed myself)

Oh ya there was this question on NATO too!!! so now we have to study history too, Slovakia and Spain are both members of NATO!! There were a total of 26 members in it
Morocco share borders with TWO countries. Canada does not. and I chose that option. crap!
The United Nations Monetary and Financial Conference, commonly known as Bretton Woods conference, was a gathering of 730 delegates from all 44 Allied nations at the Mount Washington Hotel, situated in Bretton Woods, New Hampshire to regulate the international monetary and financial order after the conclusion of World War II.[1]
The conference was held from 1 July to 22 July 1944, when the agreements were signed to set up the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and the International Monetary Fund (IMF). (Wikipedia)
On the case of the Myrdal's theory of cumulative causation.
TAIGA -- Taiga (pronounced /ˈtaɪgə/, from Turkic[1] or Mongolian) is a biome characterized by coniferous forests. Covering most of inland Alaska, Canada, Sweden, Finland, inland Norway and Russia (especially Siberia), as well as parts of the extreme northern continental United States (Northern Minnesota, Michigan, Upstate New York, New Hampshire, and Maine), northern Kazakhstan and Japan (Hokkaidō), the taiga is the world's largest terrestrial biome. Boreal forest is the term used to refer to the southern part of this biome, while "taiga" is used to describe the more barren northern areas of the Arctic tree line.
CAN ANYBODY JUST ANYBODY TELL ME WHAT MASS MOVEMENT IS IN TERMS OF GEOGRAPHICAL CONTEXT???!?!?!?!?!?!
In the second round there was the group work. It was something like how are we going to preserve e nationhood and national identity, and can you believe they just gave us 45 minutes for it and we wrote very short because there wasn't enough time. Furthermore there were a lot of points and could not elaborate on them very well. What should have been a essay of at least 3 pages, we could only do until 1.5 pages although it was not very good but we did manage to convey our points out well, I think.
Hope we can get through to the next round!!!!!! then GEO-TRAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
lolz. just found the video that we submitted for NUSGC08 on youtube

Today is honestly one of the most crap-y-est day of my life. We had a so-called debate held in Pure geog lesson, 4 boys against 5 girls. the topic was on tourism -- how does it help to improve lives of the host's country ppl and the country by itself. the good thing was that we had the whole library to ourselves, and what we had I would rather not consider a debate but an argument lols. Joel and Luke was like Super high lar, luke said the book was like a gold mine and Joel kept screaming some irrelevant points -.-lll... Wenxin was very busy flipping the pages finding the points and Zahirah was happy about being able to say Shut up. I think it should have been longer... Because in the class during lunch wen xin and Luke was still debating about it.
